This Engagement

This work came from my curatorial residency in Bagac, Bataan, Philippines where I lived in a heritage resort for 12 days with 8 other visiting artists. Audio clips used in this composition were captured during my routine in the residency, which starts from my quarters walking, running or riding a golf cart to the workshops, and a little bit outside the resort to the public market or looking for cash machine. In the light of the space being big and it is essentially a space of transience, I wanted to capture the different levels of intimacies I experienced in this engagement.

Dayang Yraola


Dayang Yraola is a curator based in Manila and Hong Kong. She is an Assistant Professor at the University of the Philippines College of Fine Arts and College of Music. Dayang’s curatorial focus is on process-based art projects, which took off from an earlier platform she spearheaded, called Project Glocal (2011-2015), and Composite Series (2015-2018), involving artists from Southeast Asia and parts of East Asia.
