C-drík

After coming back from Kowloon early morning, I arrived at Discovery Bay where dozens of birds where loudly singing, I decided to stay, listen and record.

This field recording was made an early morning at Discovery Bay, Lantau Island, Hong Kong in 2014.
The recording has been slightly edited (some of the low frequencies produced by some machineries have been filtered out).

C-drík

Born in Zaire (Democratic Republic of Congo) in 1972, Cedrik Fermont, known as C-drík or Kirdec, is a composer, musician, author, radio host, concert organiser based in Berlin (Germany).
C-drík grew up mostly in Belgium but has lived in the Netherlands and up to this day in Germany. He started his first industrial and noise band, Črno Klank, in 1989 and studied electroacoustic music in Belgium, under the direction of Annette Vande Gorne in 1997. He is active solo and in several music projects such as Axiome, Tasjiil Moujahed, Marie Takahashi & C-drík among others and has collaborated with dozens of musicians from the free improvised, noise and electroacoustic music scenes.
He is the manager for Syrphe, a platform and label mostly but not exclusively focused on alternative electronic, noise and experimental music from Asia and Africa.
C-drík has extensively toured Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe and North America.
He published several essays about Asian and African experimental and electronic music and co-wrote with Dimitri della Faille Not Your World Music: Noise In South East Asia, a book and CD, winner of the 2017 "Golden Nica" Prix Ars Electronica in the "Digital Musics & Sound Art" category.

He also hosts some radio shows at Staalplaat Radio and Colaboradio in Berlin and Boxout.fm in New Delhi.
