« Syriac Orthodox Christian kids pray and sing in Sadad, Syria »
Juan Castrillo
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In July 2019 I traveled to Syria to visit my family. One afternoon my cousin Tadrous took me to a children's festival held in the saloon of Mar Jargios (Saint George) church in Sadad village. During the festival the kids pray and sung in Syriac language. The song you are listening to in this piece corresponds to the Our Father prayer (Abun D'bashmayo) sung in Aramaic. The Syriac Orthodox Church still preserves its liturgy in the Syriac language, a variant of Aramaic that is still alive in Syria.
Recorded in August 7th 2019.
