12 minutes in the early morning - a snapshot of what could take place in 12 mornings. The recordings span late spring, early summer, in the Georgian Bay Biosphere (a UNESCO site) and Algonquin Provincial Park Region, in the rugged wilderness of Ontario, Canada.

This production is a mosaic of a lake side forested area rich in a song birds, wildlife and waterfowl. The goal - to depict the vast amount and variety of wilderness sounds which can be heard, especially in the spring, when migrating birds have arrived in the area.
An incredible number of species of animals, birds and waterfowl make this location home, an ideal place to record nature's magnificence.

These recordings took place between 4am and 7am. While the main birdscape part of the track is one sitting, featured wildlife sounds were introduced from subsequent recordings, creating a very interesting sonic mosaic.

From an artistic standpoint, of special note is the quality of natural ambience, depth of distance, dynamics, and stereo field. No special effects were used in this all natural production.

You may recognize some of the sounds including Spring Peeper Frogs, Barred Owl, the Common Loon, the American Toad, the American Bittern, the Eastern Grey Wolf (The Algonquin Wolf), Black Bear in the bush sniffing, a Beaver slapping it's tail on the water, a Blue Jay, "Screech" of a Barred Owl, Lynx cat growl, Canada Geese, Great Blue Heron, an American Black Crow, The Northern Flicka, Cow Moose, King Fisher, Winter Wren, Black Capped Chickadee, Sand Hill Cranes.

After working in the music business as a producer and musician for over 30 years, Glenn Hubert's passion for nature drew him to field recording in the remote wilderness of the Georgian Bay Biosphere and Algonquin Provincial Park areas in Northern Ontario, Canada.

Choosing locations specific to the environments he wished to record, Glenn sets out his microphones, and leaves them for several hours, up to a day or two. The reason for this, Glenn says, is to allow the birds and animals to return to their natural routines, creating a natural soundscape rarely heard by people.

His attention to detail and desire to capture pristine recordings of undisturbed natural habitats has resulted in unique wonderful recordings of natural wilderness areas which are disappearing as the human population expands.

Over the years Glenn has developed an archival library of thousands of hours of recordings, creating sonic time stamps of wilderness areas, some of which no longer are as peaceful as they were in his early days of recording.

Combining his music talents with his wilderness recordings, Glenn Hubert has created over twenty albums of "Music & Nature" and "Wilderness SoundScapes".

His "Algonquin Park Wilderness Series" features the iconic calls of the Common Loon and the Eastern Grey Wolf, in the albums, "The Loons of Algonquin", and "The Wolves of Algonquin. A welcomed addition to any nature lover's audio library.

"It's very gratifying knowing there is an increasing appreciation for our disappearing pristine natural habitats, and I am very happy to be able to share these SoundScapes with others around the world. It is my hope that these recordings will spread awareness that nature should be appreciated, shared, respected, and should be preserved, cared for and protected." Glenn Hubert
