Ana María Romano G
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Cuando calla el mar y sopla el ruido" was composed in 2018 and was speccially conceived for the South American PhoNographic Mornings project.
For the creation this piece,  I made two separated recordings in two different mornings, while getting ready for my daily activities. In starting the creative process, I decided to use only one of the them, which total duration was 1 hour, 17 minutes. Those 67 minutes where cut up, superposed, entwined, amplified, silenced in order to produce a soundscape that, although it reflects the spirit of the place and the moment, it is also a revindication of such context produced by the sound conditions offered by the register, by the repeated listening and by the cross between the evocation and each new experience of that place.
Her creative interests led her to navigate through sound from numerous perspectives: composer, improviser, sound and interdisciplinary artista. She likes to contemplate with her ear and to experiment in order to create. Her proposal elapses  without pomposity and in the fragility of the present. Her creative interests have led her to work with both acoustic and electroacoustic methods as well as participate in multidisciplinary projects such as contemporary dance, videodance and performance. She also collaborates with artists from colombia and elsewhere in the world of improvisational and interdisciplinary music.
Her works have been published or presented in festivals and events in Argentina, Australia, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, England, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Mexico, Peru, Spain, Switzerland, United States, and Uruguay.
She has received national and international distinctions from Colombia, Germany, Holland and Italy and has received commisions from diverse national and international institutions.
She has participated in documentary and investigative projects and her interest in documentation has led her to produce texts for different media as well and the production of various publications (cds, magazines and websites).
She teaches in formal and informal spaces and at all levels from small children to university students and is currently a professor at the Universidad El Bosque. She is the director of the Festival En Tiempo Real – space dedicated to artistic manifestations that involve a dialogue between sound and the use of technologies. She shares her artistic and teaching work at concerts, lectures and workshops.
