" Crisp "

“Crisp” is a soundscape about my favorite time of the year – Winter. Canadian winters can be very impressive and in fact enjoyable. I only started appreciating this kind of weather when I moved from big city to the countryside. Recordings for this mix were done during my daily 7km walks in the fields and forest. When temperature goes down to -20 degrees Celsius sounds become very clear and crisp and there is not much interference from animals or people or vehicles. Everything and everyone seems to be asleep.
For this soundscape I used audio of breaking thin pieces of ice, my steps on clear frozen lake, wind in my studio window, branches of a tree covered with layer of ice and waving on wind, a metal lamp post wiggling on the wind and of frozen snow falling on plastic box.

I have been a professional photographer for last 35 years. Recording sounds is something I do in times when I search for artistic inspiration. I find a lot of parallels between taking pictures and recording ambient sounds. Often I mix my recordings and use them as audio to be played at my photography shows.
